Classic Ribeye Steak Recipe:

1 (1 pound) boneless ribeye steak, 1 ½ inch thick
1/6 teaspoon sea salt
1/6 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon extra light olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 garlic cloves
2 sprigs rosemary
2 sprigs thyme

Directions:

  1. Season the steak with salt and pepper.
  2. In a cast-iron skillet, over high heat, heat it until smoking hot, (2 minutes). Add the extra light olive oil.
  3. Place the steak in the skillet and pan-fry until the surface becomes golden brown, (3 minutes). Flip the steak and pan-fry until it becomes golden brown as well, (3 minutes).
  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low, flip the steak, and continue to fry for 5 minutes.
  5. Flip the steak, add butter on top of the steak, also transfer in the garlic, rosemary, and thyme into the skillet, pan fry for another 5 minutes, and continuously spooning butter over the steak.
  6. (The total cook time for a medium is 16 minutes. Reduce by 2 minutes if you want medium rare, and add additional 2 minutes if you want medium well.)
  7. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Teriyaki Ribeye Steak Recipe:

2 tablespoons sake
2 tablespoons honey

1 stalk scallions, thinly sliced

Directions:

  1. To make the sauce, in a bowl, mix in the soy sauce, mirin, sake, and honey. Set aside.
  2. Season the steak with salt and pepper.
  3. In a cast-iron skillet, over high heat, heat it until smoking hot, (2 minutes). Add the extra light olive oil.
  4. Place the steak in the skillet and pan-fry until the surface becomes golden brown, (3 minutes). Flip the steak and pan-fry until this side becomes golden brown as well, (3 minutes).
  5. Reduce the heat to medium-low, flip the steak, and continue to pan-fry for 5 minutes.
  6. Flip the steak, add the garlic, white part of scallions, and pour in the sauce. Pan fry for another 5 minutes, and continuously spooning the sauce over the steak.

  8. Lastly, add in the green part of scallions.
  9. Rest for a few minutes before serving.
