8 Cool Ways to Wrap Dumplings

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In the last episode, I showed you how to make dumplings filling, wrap dumplings, and cook dumplings. In this episode, I’d like to show you 8 cool ways to wrap dumplings!

1. Pleated dumpling
First, fold in half. Pinch the middle of both sides. Then pleat it.

2. Triangle dumplings
First, in the middle, seal the three edges of the wrapper together. Then seal the rest to create a triangle dumpling. This style of dumpling is inspired by a type of Chinese pastry called Tang San Jiao or Sugar Triangle.

3. Cross dumplings
First, in the middle seal the four edges of the wrapper together. Then seal the rest to create a cross dumpling.

4. Ingots dumplings
Fold and seal the wrapper in half to form half of a circle. Then fold the lower corners in and seal it again.

5. Envelop dumplings
Fold and seal the wrapper in half to form half of a circle. Then fold the lower corners toward the inside like an envelope.

6. Sun dumplings
Add the filling on a wrapper, then cover it with another dumpling wrapper, and then fold the edges inward to create a sun lookalike dumpling. I think this looks like Ravioli.

7. Potsticker
Fold in half, pinch the middle of both sides.

8. Rectangle dumplings
Fold in half, seal the middle of both sides. Then seal the perpendicular two sides too.
